All Mine

Charlotte returned to her Savta and Papa's house from a joyous visit to her Nana and Pops' house. Upon our entry she asked loudly, "are you mine?" to her Papa and Savta. What a concept...your loved ones are in part owned by you. Well, I do know that she owns part of their hearts.

Things Children Say

It's been almost a week since my last update. We've been "vacationing" in Upstate NY for Passover. Charlotte has been a non-stop source of verbal excitement. She is a marvel to us and others. Here are a variety of comments from her and those she has "wowed".

"She has quite a mouth on her" - Jerry Garfinkle
"Kid's got a great personality" - Stu Klein

"Wissdat" (What is that).
"...are" (used to express plural appropriately).
"I will sing my nighttime songs to myself (and does all five)"
"May I touch the Clown Fish?" (referring to a plastic Nemo fish in a faux pond)
"You know what?" (I'm sure the first of many times that phrase is chanted)

What a joy!

and the Three Bears

Charlotte has enjoyed the oral version of "Goldylocks and the Three Bears" as told by her Savta. She does have a very interesting way of pronouncing the name of our sunshiny heroine:

"Dodeeyoks"

In Your Belly

Yesterday morning Charlotte had an deep conversation with Papa (her Grandpa) and told him that her Bunny was her sister and that her brother was in my belly. An interesting concept my dear but we will not know the sex of the new baby until May 7th.

Red Light, Green Light, Purple Light?

Tuesday morning on the way home from Target, Charlotte requested "Stop light painting". I was not sure what she meant but I figured that I had some sort of idea. Who taught her this phrase? ...no clue! Out from her art box I took the watercolors that come on a strip of colors in a circle. Yup, that was the request.

Make sense to me: "Stop Light Painting".

One Week Anniversary

We're not making a big deal about this to her but Charlotte celebrated one week of naps and night sleep in her "big girl" bed. It is a proud occasion to know that Charlotte has done this by her own choosing and without any bribery, encouragement or words of wisdom from us. Each day she happily walks into her room in the afternoon and evening and climbs into her bed with her Bunny and other bedtime toys.

Mazal Tov on one week!

Elbow Scrape

Charlotte has quite a high tolerance for pain. It is interesting that she barely lets out a cry when getting a scrap, bruise or such during a fall.

When I returned from work Charlotte proudly showed me the tiny bandaid adorning her elbow. David explained that she took a tumble when exiting our apartment's lobby and has a small scrap. She did not cry and took more interest in dressing it than crying about the obvious pain it must have created.

Good for you!

The Bed Goes On

As each sleeptime/naptime approaches I do not even ask or suggest that her bed or crib are options. Charlotte has just seemed to gravitate and enjoy her new sleep place. I'm so proud of her and even more pleased that she does not seem to realize that leaving her bed is an option. She still calls to us in the night about 15 or 20 minutes after her bedtime ritual but does not leave bed.

On a lighter note: she has found that the bed allows her to play with her nighttime Bunny: Bobo and her datime Bunny: Hebrew together in her room. This morning we dressed them both and they had a grand time reading books. Bobo is not normally allowed out of bed and now is confined to her room.

Just Because

We've all heard it: "Because I said so" OR "Just Because" OR other phrases like that. Well, I guess I must use one similar to that.

While on the Target checkout line Charlotte was doing her usual as she converesed with everyone on line and the cashier.

"I've got my Bunny with me today...." and she paused.
"Because that's just the way it is."

She was not being rude but just a matter of fact that this is the way the world is - Charlotte travels with Bunny...no questions asked.

Big or Little ....Milestones

Some milestones may loom in the distance, seemingly huge and utterly astonishing in thoughts of tackling them.

Last night, Charlotte and David put together her white plastic Graco toddler bed. She brought in her play tools and marveled at the unwrapping of the mattress as well. Next, Charlotte announced that she would be sleeping there all night and alas, she did! Not one exit from her room or complaint about crib re-entry.
Today, she climbed right in during naptime and made no mention of the crib. We're having regular bedtime rituals (animals, songs, books, water drink and kisses) and nothing additional.

Mazal Tov to Charlotte on seeing what this mileston is: a new world of pleasant slumber.

Sandwich continued

She has asked for more sandwich time and insists that on top of the vegetables...she now needs a fork:)

Charlotte Sandwich

While on the bed with Charlotte...David and I had her in a hug sandwich and announced "Charlotte Sandwich". "What's on the sandwich?" David asked.

"Lettuce," Charlotte giggled.
"What else?" I asked.
"Tomoato," Charlotte replied.
"Anything else?" David asked.
"Cheese," Charlotte answered and asked for more hugging.

THE LONG HIATUS on blogging is now over. Between travel, guests and family illness...it's been a tough couple of weeks but I'm back on. Thanks for keeping up with the site! Sheri:)
